Old Testament Women

Eve

The first woman, created by God from Adam’s rib in the Garden of Eden. Her story reminds us that every human bears the image of God, and that grace covers our greatest failures. (Genesis 2–3)

Deborah

A prophetess and the only female judge of Israel, Deborah led her people with wisdom, courage, and unwavering faith. She is a picture of Spirit-led leadership. (Judges 4–5)

Ruth

A Moabite widow whose loyalty to her mother-in-law Naomi became a testament to faithful love. Her faithfulness placed her in the lineage of Jesus Christ. (Book of Ruth)

Hannah

A woman of deep sorrow and deeper prayer, Hannah cried out to God for a child and received Samuel. She models surrender, trust, and answered prayer. (1 Samuel 1–2)

Rahab

A woman of Jericho who hid the Israelite spies and placed her faith in the God of Israel. Her courage saved her family and placed her in the lineage of Jesus. (Joshua 2)

Esther

A Jewish queen who risked her life to intercede for her people. Her story echoes with the truth: “For such a time as this.” (Book of Esther)

New Testament Women

Mary

Chosen by God to carry the Son of God, Mary’s response was pure surrender: “Let it be done to me according to your word.” A model of faith and humility. (Luke 1)

Mary Magdalene

Freed from seven demons by Jesus, she became one of His most devoted followers. She was the first to witness the resurrection and carry the good news. (John 20)

The Samaritan Woman

She met Jesus at a well and received the promise of living water. Transformed by the encounter, she ran to tell her entire town about the Messiah. (John 4)

Priscilla

A tentmaker, teacher, and church leader alongside her husband Aquila. She discipled Apollos and helped shape the early church. (Acts 18, Romans 16)

Lydia

A successful merchant and the first recorded European convert to Christianity. She opened her home as one of the earliest house churches. (Acts 16)

These women — from the garden to the upper room — show us that God has always used the willing, the faithful, and the surrendered. Their stories are our invitation.
